Data driven design

With the acquisition of the high-profile sport rights Formula 1 and Winter sports (formerly SVT and NRK), Viaplay aimed to please a folksy, yet discerning audience with high expectations for broadcasts, expert analysis, and information.
I helped Viaplay to conduct in-depth interviews with winter sport fans. Based on the insights, we set out to create concepts and wireframes of fan zones to enhance the digital experience and as a complement to the studio broadcasts.
The solution incorporated relevant and engaging live data and information from Optas data feeds and APIs and provided users with fixtures, real-time results, statistics, athlete profiles and a chat with the pundits in the studio.

Sport scheduler

Sport scheduler

Data driven design

During my time at Viaplay, the company was in a major growth phase, particularly in sports where Viaplay's big sport rights were key to success. With a large number of new rights (and broadcasts), the sports editors went from scheduling almost the double amount of events, in additional 5 new languages, in just a year.
I was tasked with revamping the editors' workflow and creating a grounds up redesign of their scheduling tool. Through workshops and interviews, we streamlined the process, cutting out redundancies, leading to time savings of 50 seconds per event scheduling.
Using metadata from a data provider, the new tool automatically created and scheduled events, freeing up the editors to focus on editorial work.
