Julius Andersson

UI & Motion designer

Motion design brings digital interfaces to life through animation and movement. This includes transitions, micro-interactions, loading states, hover effects, and other small details that shape how a product feels and behaves.

When used well, motion makes a product feel more refined and engaging. But its real value is functional. Motion can guide attention, communicate cause and effect, and help users understand what just happened and what they should do next.

In this lecture, we explore how motion can improve usability and strengthen the overall product experience. We look at examples such as buttons that respond to interaction, menus that slide into view, and form fields that clearly communicate errors. We also discuss the importance of restraint, since the best motion design is often the kind users do not consciously notice.
